A Pre-K Day Built for Kindergarten Readiness

At Quantum STEM School, our Pre-K program combines a structured daily routine with purposeful learning, play, movement, creativity, and rest. A child-friendly visual schedule helps students understand what comes next, manage transitions, and develop the independence and classroom routines that will help them feel confident as they prepare for kindergarten.

Throughout the day, teachers provide reading and writing support through stories, early literacy activities, letter and sound recognition, vocabulary development, and opportunities to express ideas through drawing and writing. Children strengthen their handwriting and fine-motor skills as they practice forming letters, writing their names, using pencils and classroom materials, and completing age-appropriate activities. Our Pre-K curriculum builds early literacy, math, STEM, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills while developing a strong foundation for kindergarten readiness.

Social-emotional development is an important part of the day, too. Teachers help children build friendships, communicate how they are feeling, ask for help, work through disagreements, take turns, and participate confidently in their classroom community. Children enjoy a healthy lunch with their classmates, where mealtime provides another opportunity to practice independence, conversation, and social skills while becoming more comfortable trying a variety of nutritious foods.

Every day also includes plenty of movement. Children enjoy trips to the turf field for soccer, badminton, catching, kicking, and other activities that strengthen coordination and gross-motor skills. Their busy day also includes time to rest and recharge, along with art, music, dancing, sign language, hands-on STEM exploration, creative projects, and more. Our goal is for children to leave Pre-K academically prepared for kindergarten while also developing the confidence, independence, curiosity, and social skills they need to thrive in their next classroom.
